A House panorama pic.jpg

A House is an installation constructed entirely of found windows and screens. Originally conceived to serve as a barrier between the performers and audience during the spring of 2021, it created a home for our characters, where their familial lines and stories of shared experiences came together, unifying a diverse cast with a wide range of histories to tell. This was my first design and installation, and I hope to continue building pieces for others to integrate with their artistic ideas, as well as creating new bamboo and nature-inspired pieces that, in the vein of A House, will create unity and harmony in their spaces, and bring people together.

A House was conceived for Idling in Her Lines, a collaborative production from Blackbird Dance Theatre's company members. It was performed at the Pam Miller Downtown Arts Center in Lexington, KY May 27-29, 2021.

The show was produced by Jenny Fitzpatrick, and associate produced by Hannah Neff. The design of the tree was conceived by Jenny Fitzpatrick and Nell Adkins, and the house installation was conceived by Hannah Neff, with assistance in construction by Tom Willis.
